Research in the Cognition and Learning Laboratory is aimed at understanding fundamental processes of human learning and memory. We are ultimately interested in applying our knowledge of human learning to solve real world problems in education. The common theme throughout the diverse projects in our lab is a focus on applied, real world questions, like the following:
- What strategies enhance learning of complex educational materials in educational contexts?
- What do people believe about their own learning and memory, and how do these beliefs affect the choices people make when they regulate their own learning?
- What are the best ways to design computerized learning environments?
- How can we enhance cognitive processes involved in problem solving and creativity?
